Rollin’ Sixers @ Record Store Day (Doppel Cafe) Saturday 21st

Taken from the Facebook events page:
2012 is Record Store Day’s fifth year, and somewhere in Kuala Lumpur, a little music blog decided hey, why not do something of our own over at this side of the country, bring together music fans, artistes and the like for a little bit of good ol’ fashioned music gig?
We have gathered some of the few artistes in Malaysia, who have recently released an album last year, and those who will be releasing albums within the year. Catch them perform your beloved tracks from them live, and also get a sneak on what to expect in the near future.
Besides that, you can also purchase your favourite bands’ CDs at a DISCOUNTED PRICE during the gig.
So, mark your calendars:
DATE: April 21, 2012 (Saturday)
TIME: 2PM onwards
VENUE: Doppel Kafe, Central Market, KL
ENTRY FEE: RM15
14 local acts for just the price of RM15. Just for you lovely music fans - all because it’s RECORD STORE DAY! :)
We’ll be closing the show at 8.30pm but pop over early as you can to check out the other bands and grab some local music!

Yes, the Stones and the Sixers both do blues rock but that does not make them similar sounding. Saying that the two bands sound the same just because they operate and breathe in the same genre is like saying John Legend and Usher sound the same because they’re both R&B artistes. That’s just absurd. Neverthelss, if you did want to compare the Sixers to an influential blues act, it’d most likely be ZZ Top. And I’m not saying that just ’cause they’ve been known to cover Sharp Dressed Man.
I’m saying it ’cause ZZ top rock hard. They rock tough. And they rock with a boisterous carnal energy that suggests all manner of debauchery. That’s the kind of thing the Sixers do as well. And, do well! And the best example of that is served up by Hard Love, the band’s debut single off their eponymous LP. It is stridently bluesy in a Tres Hombres sorta way, yet because of the band members’ own early influences, it’s also grungy and slightly punk in that it leaves a mess of blood and spunk on the floor when it’s over, some four minutes later.
